Gail Turpin

Gail is a true Renaissance woman. She is an amazingly talented artist, maker and designer. After studying design at Edinburgh College of Art, she worked as a designer for Scotland's leading advertising agency, before taking London and Amsterdam by storm. As an artist, she has won three prizes from the Royal Scottish Academy, including the prestigious J&W Gordon Smith Trust prize. Her breadth of talent is exceptional, working intuitively with not just paint, but textiles, charcoal, pencils and oil bar.

She has been a regular visitor to Shetland for many years, and has done two artist residencies here. Her work in the gallery brings a fresh, modern, light touch to Shetland, in particular to Scalloway.
