Filip Andel

We are incredibly excited to be showing the brand new work of Filip Andel, which we consider to be astonishing. Filip is Czech, but now lives in Hamnavoe. He studied ceramics in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic but was seduced by the glamour/danger/excitement of being a documentary photographer, covering conflicts in Kashmir, Kurdistan, Afghanistan, Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union. Thankfully, his interest in ceramics has been rekindled, although he prefers to refer to himself as "a potter". Pottery sounds simple, but his work is far from simple. It is astonishingly sophisticated, and would be at home in the most elegant of homes. Definitely a name to watch.
