Thelma Spowart
Thelma, in true Shetland style, learned to knit as a young schoolgirl. Her first pieces were open-work scarves, but her preference now is to knit shawls, using two-ply lace wool. She uses the traditional method of knitting four quarters, stitched at the side, with a square centre. Her work is in private collections in New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
